We paid for the trip and went back to hotel. Tana was stressed because of the rule that all the slow people will be left behind and won't get to the top. She read somewhere that it happend to some other group. I was not worried, we were in good shape and did lot of hiking in past few months in high altitudes. I believed that we can make it.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, we heard buzzing sound. Insect was obvious suspect. At first we ignored it but when it lasted more than fifteen minutes we started to look around.

It was necessary to cross one bridge on the way. It looked like something that was holding together solely by thoughts and prayers.

We were hoping for nice views once we got there, Salkantay snowy peak, some lake and so on. But it was not meant to be. It was getting misty and cloudy, but at least it was not raining.

There were not many shelters to hide. But we found one. There was a place under one huge rock. Not much space, roughly one meter between ground and a "ceiling". So we crawled under it and realized that it was used as a toilet by many hikers before.
The Salkantay trail – Day 1
It was really dark, rain was pouring on our heads and we couldn't see more than few meters ahead. At that moment we heard a horse whine and the sound of hooves coming in our direction. We held each others hand and hoped that the horse will see us rather than smash into us and push us over the edge of the abyss.
Sajama – hidden Bolivian gem
At first we did not plan to visit Sajama park. But I am glad we did change our mind and went there. It was one of the best hikes we did in Bolivia. Also ingenuity of locals when it comes to breakfast surprised us a lot.
Lauca National Park
Two day trip to Lauca national park. Not as adventurous as we expected. Still we managed to rent a car for the first time in South America and spend much more time than expected in it. On top of that we saw nice lake, snow capped mountains and even llama giving birth.
Arica – pastry heaven
Few days in Arica turned out to be better than we expected. Ocean views, city walks, reasonable prices and amazing pastry. All in one small Chilean town.
Christmas in San Pedro de Atacama
Renting a bicycle and visiting two interesting places south of San Pedro de Atacama - Laguna Cejar and Ojos del Salar. Christmas shopping and searching for a Christmas dinner. All that in three days.
